Grading Scales

Homeschoolers in South Carolina are free to use any grading scale. You can use one of these common grading scales, or you can make up your own. Make sure you clearly show the grading scale on your progress report.

Traditional Lower Elementary Scale: 

E = Excellent, S = Satisfactory, N = Needs Improvement.

Pass/Fail

P = Pass, F=Fail

Traditional Grades: 

A, B, C, D, F

Percentage Grades:

A = 90-100, B = 80-89, C = 70-79, D = 60-69, F = 0-59

High School Grading Scales

If you are creating a high school transcript for college or transfer to a school, you will need to use the South Carolina

Percentage Grades (after August 2016)

A = 90-100, B = 80-89, C = 70-79, D = 60-69, F = 0-59

Before August 2016: A = 93-100, B = 85-92, C = 77-84, D = 70-76, F = 0-69
